Key Green Farmhouse is situated about quarter of a mile outside Egton Bridge (map). Egton Bridge is a small village with two pubs, The Horseshoe Hotel (the bottom Horseshoe) and The Postgate Inn both of which serve excellent food. The village also has a large catholic church.

In the heart of the village is Egton Estate, offering salmon fishing on the Egton Estate beat of the River Esk (tel: 01947 895466). Day tickets are limited to three rods per day and hours of fishing are from 7am to midnight in 15 named pools. Prices are from £20 per rod. The Estate runs shooting parties during the grouse and pheasant seasons.

A further half a mile from Egton Bridge is the village of Egton with two further pubs Ye Old Horseshoe Inn (the top horseshoe) and The Wheatsheaf, both of which also serve excellent food. Egton also has a large church, village shop and garage.

We are 5 miles from Goathland, famous as Aidensfield in the TV series 'Heartbeat'. Goathland station also featured recently in the Harry Potter films as Hogsmeade - the station for Hogwarts School. Grosmont is the northern terminus of the North York Moors Railway, and is only 3 miles from Key Green.

Whitby is a ten minute drive away and offers attractions such as the Abbey situated at the top of the famous 199 steps, The Captain Cook Museum, and its' Dracula connections. Plus the usual seaside attractions of amusements, ice creams and fish and chips.

This area of the North York Moors is probably best known for it's excellent walking and cycling routes, many routes can be started from the house.
