Key Green Farmhouse is situated about quarter of a mile outside
Egton Bridge (map).
Egton Bridge is a small village with two pubs, The
Horseshoe Hotel (the bottom Horseshoe) and The
Postgate Inn both of which serve excellent food. The
village also has a large catholic church.
In the heart of the village is Egton Estate, offering salmon fishing
on the Egton Estate beat of the River Esk (tel: 01947 895466). Day
tickets are limited to three rods per day and hours of fishing are
from 7am to midnight in 15 named pools. Prices are from £20
per rod. The Estate runs shooting parties during the grouse and
pheasant seasons.
A further half a mile from Egton Bridge is the village of Egton
with two further pubs Ye Old Horseshoe Inn (the top horseshoe) and
The Wheatsheaf, both of which also serve excellent food. Egton also
has a large church, village shop and garage.
We are 5 miles from Goathland, famous as Aidensfield in the TV
series 'Heartbeat'. Goathland station also featured recently in
the Harry Potter films as Hogsmeade - the station for Hogwarts School.
Grosmont is the northern terminus of the North York Moors Railway,
and is only 3 miles from Key Green.
Whitby is a ten minute drive away and offers attractions such
as the Abbey situated at the top of the famous 199 steps, The Captain
Cook Museum, and its' Dracula connections. Plus the usual seaside
attractions of amusements, ice creams and fish and chips.
This area of the North York Moors is probably best known for it's
excellent walking and cycling routes, many routes can be started
from the house.

Directions
From the south:
From the A1 take the A64 sign posted for York. Stay on this road
past York until Malton, join the A169 signposted for Pickering.
Stay on the A169 through Pickering. Once you have past the RAF Fylingdales
base, take the next left, sign posted Goathland. On reaching Goathland
turn left at the junction, sign posted Egton Bridge. Stay on this
road for 5 miles, you will reach a T junction, Key Green Farmhouse
is on this T junction, on the left hand side of the road.
From the North/West:
Head along the A171 'moors road' from Guisborough, take the turning
sign posted for Egton on a sharp bend. Drive through Egton and down
into Egton Bridge, go through the village, round the sharp bend
to the junction for Rosedale. Carry straight on up the steep hill
out of the village for a quarter of a mile, sign posted for Goathland.
At the next junction you will see Key Green Farmhouse, turn left
into the junction, and sharp right onto the drive.
By Train:
There is a station in Egton Bridge. From the station we are a half
mile walk along the Goathland Road (up a steep hill).
